If you’re running a WordPress Multisite network and considering a move to Pressillion, it’s important to understand which configurations are compatible with our platform. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to identify your multisite type and whether it will function correctly on Pressillion.

🔍 How to Check Your Multisite Setup

To determine your current multisite configuration:

  1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Navigate to My Sites → Network Admin → Sites from the top-left menu.
  3. Observe the structure of your site URLs.

This list will display your main site along with any subsites that exist under the network.

✅ Supported: Path-Based Networks (Subdirectories)

If your subsites are structured using subdirectories, such as:

  • domain.com/uk
  • domain.com/us

…then you are running a subdirectory-based multisite. This type of multisite is fully supported on Pressillion’s hosting platform.

This configuration works seamlessly because all sites operate under a single domain structure, simplifying routing and SSL handling.

❌ Not Supported: Domain-Based Networks (Subdomains or Domains)

If your subsites are structured using subdomains or entirely different domains, such as:

  • uk.domain.com
  • us.domain.co
  • example.co.uk

…you are running a domain-based multisite network. At this time, Pressillion does not support domain or subdomain-based multisite networks.

We’re actively exploring future support for this configuration, but for now, it is not compatible due to SSL, DNS, and routing complexities.

🔄 What to Do If Your Setup Isn’t Supported

If you’re currently running a domain-based network and would still like to migrate to Pressillion:

  • Consider converting to a subdirectory-based network where possible.
  • Alternatively, you can host each site independently as its own install on Pressillion.
  • Contact our support team to discuss custom architecture if your use case is unique.

For agencies managing multiple brands or clients, using individual optimized WordPress instances can often provide better performance and separation anyway.
